The Pune police took swift action after the girl’s mother filed a complaint in November last year. The victim and the accused, both involved in playing ‘Free Fire,’ developed a friendship over time. However, the situation took a sinister turn when the accused coerced the girl into sending him nude pictures by threatening harm to her sister around June-July the previous year.
Alarming Threats:
The accused didn’t stop there. When the girl decided to cease playing the game with him, he allegedly escalated the situation by threatening to reveal her nude pictures to her family if she didn’t enter into a relationship with him. Matters worsened during Diwali when he carried out his threat by forwarding her explicit pictures to her father and grandmother.
Family’s Reaction:
The family, shocked upon receiving the inappropriate images on their cellphones, immediately spoke to the girl. Disturbed and distressed, she revealed the entire incident to her family, prompting them to approach the police and file a First Information Report (FIR).
Police Action:
After a thorough technical investigation, the police arrested Amankumar Pankaj Tanti on Friday and confiscated his cell phone. The accused faces charges under sections 354 and 354 (d) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) related to outraging modesty, sections of the Information Technology Act, and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
