These suspects allegedly ran their illegal betting operation from a flat in a Wakad society. They took advantage of the excitement around the IPL T20 matches, especially the game between Kings XI Punjab and Gujarat Titans.
Using various betting apps, they roped in people from different places, like Karthik alias Dinesh Ahuja from Nagpur and Ramu Boman from Chhattisgarh. They even set up fake bank accounts to handle the money flow.
The Wakad police acted swiftly upon receiving intelligence about this illegal activity. During their operation, they seized betting materials worth Rs. 6.58 lakhs and arrested the suspects. Now, the accused are under police custody for four days as the investigation continues.
The investigation is ongoing, led by Police Sub-Inspector Atul Jadhav. The court has granted four days of police custody for further questioning.
