Shantanu Maheshwari first gained fame as a dancer. He became popular with his impressive dance moves, but when he decided to try his hand at acting, people doubted his abilities. “When I started dancing, people didn’t believe I could act. And when I started acting, they couldn’t believe that I could dance,” Shantanu shared. This disbelief from others was a big challenge for him.
The Struggle to Balance
Shantanu’s journey in the entertainment world was about balancing his dance and acting skills. He didn’t want to be stereotyped as just a dancer or just an actor. It took him a long time to make people see him as both. “It took a lot of time for me to break that mold and for people to accept me as an actor as well,” he said.
Facing Harsh Rejections
One of the hardest experiences Shantanu faced was during a movie audition. He recalled how some people called him for an audition and then treated him very badly. “They just bashed me,” he said. They criticized him for coming from a TV background and said TV actors don’t know how to act. Shantanu tried to stay polite and asked for feedback to improve, but they continued to belittle him. This harsh treatment left a lasting scar on him.
The Weirdest Audition
Shantanu also shared a funny yet frustrating audition experience for an advertisement. He was asked by an agent to audition for a role. When he arrived, the casting team told him he was not fit for the role. To his surprise, the reference picture they were using for the role was his own! “It was so weird that my picture was there as a reference, and when I went, they said I was unfit for the role,” he laughed.
Overcoming Challenges
Despite these tough experiences, Shantanu didn’t give up. He continued to work hard and proved his talent in both dancing and acting. Today, he is a respected artist in the industry and continues to inspire many with his dedication and passion.
