Professional Life: 

Nina Singh’s journey in the Indian Police Service began in 1989 when she was commissioned in the Manipur cadre. She served in various posts in Manipur before making the important move to the Rajasthan cadre and became the first woman IPS officer to be allotted this cadre.

In 2000, as Secretary of the Rajasthan State Commission for Women, I launched an innovative outreach initiative. The program aims to support women facing difficulties by organising hearings in various districts, and providing them a platform to voice their concerns.

Her career took a turning point in 2013 when she joined the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). During her tenure at the CBI, Nina Singh handled high-profile cases including the Sheena Bora murder case, the PNB scam case, the Nirav Modi case and the Zia Khan suicide case. Her exemplary service earned her honours like the President’s Police Medal (PPMDS) in 2014, the President’s Police Medal (PPM) in 2015 and the Ati Utkrishtha Seva Medal (AUSM) in 2020.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Nina Singh played a pivotal role as Principal Secretary (Health) in Rajasthan and showed her versatility and commitment to public service. Subsequently, she assumed the role of Special Director General of CISF in 2021.

On 31 August 2023, after the retirement of her predecessor, Nina Singh assumed additional charge as Director General of CISF. The appointment was a historic moment, making her the first woman to head this important central paramilitary force. She will remain in the role until her retirement on July 31, 2024.

In her personal life, Nina Singh is married to Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Rohit Kumar Singh. They share a life of commitment to public service, Rohit is currently working as Secretary of Consumer Affairs in the Central Government. Further in her academic career, she received her Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University. Her dedication to continuous learning reflects her commitment to excellence.
