Mihir Shah was involved in a hit-and-run accident in Mumbai on the morning of July 7. Shah’s car hit a couple riding a scooter. The husband, Pradeep Nakhwa, survived, but his wife, Kaveri Nakhwa, tragically lost her life. The car, a BED, was moving at high speed, causing Kaveri to get stuck between the bumper and tyre. She was dragged for about 1.5 km before succumbing to her injuries.

Mihir Shah, the main accused, is still at large. After the accident, Mihir fled the scene and went into hiding. It is alleged that Mihir’s father, Rajesh Shah, who has political influence, helped his son evade arrest. Rajesh Shah is a leader in the Shiv Sena faction. The police have taken Rajesh Shah and the driver, Raj Rishi Bidawat, into custody, but Rajesh has since been granted bail. Mihir’s girlfriend was also questioned for allegedly providing shelter to Mihir after the accident.
Eyewitness Account
Pradeep Nakhwa, the husband of the deceased, shared his harrowing experience. He was driving the scooter with his wife sitting behind him. Suddenly, Mihir’s car came with such force that both Pradeep and Kaveri were thrown into the air. Pradeep fell on the left side, while Kaveri landed near the car’s wheel. Despite Pradeep’s desperate pleas for Mihir to stop, the car continued moving, dragging Kaveri along. Pradeep described the horrific moment when the rear wheel of the car turned so fast that it emitted smoke, ultimately causing Kaveri’s death.
Police Update
The police are actively searching for Mihir Shah. They have stated that Mihir’s escape was orchestrated with the help of his father. After the accident, Mihir called his father, who advised him to flee while the driver took responsibility for the accident. According to reports, Mihir had gone to his girlfriend’s house after the accident to hide. The police also reported that after dragging Kaveri for about 1 kilometer, Mihir and the driver Rajarsh exchanged seats, with Rajarsh reversing the car before fleeing the scene to mislead the police.
Public Outcry
Pradeep Nakhwa has demanded justice for his wife. He expressed his frustration, questioning why Mihir, the son of a wealthy and influential politician, has not been arrested yet. Pradeep believes that if Mihir were an ordinary citizen, he would have been caught immediately. Pradeep’s emotional plea highlights the disparity in treatment based on social and economic status.
