Bundgarden Police nabbed a gang from Rajasthan involved in stealing branded clothes and shoes from malls in Pune. The gang’s modus operandi involved traveling from Jaipur to Mumbai by plane and then renting a car to reach Pune via the Zoom Car app.

The Theft Incident:

The gang targeted the Reliance Fashion Factory Mall in Sangamwadi on Sunday evening. However, their attempt was foiled when the security alarm went off as they tried to leave the shop. Security guards managed to apprehend two of the thieves, leading to the recovery of stolen items.

The accused would enter malls posing as regular customers and would stack multiple clothes on top of each other to conceal their theft. They would then break security and barcode tags to avoid detection.


Arrests and Seizures:

Following the initial arrests, further investigations led to the apprehension of the gang leader, Yogesh Meena, from a hotel in Khadki Bazar, and Sonu Meena from the Pune railway station area. The police seized stolen goods worth Rs. 4,17,995, including the car used in the crimes, clothes, and shoes.

The swift action by the Bundgarden Police has brought relief to local businesses and residents, ensuring the safety of commercial establishments against such criminal activities.

The successful operation was conducted under the guidance of the Commissioner of Police, Western Regional Division, IPS Pravinkumar Patil, with Deputy Commissioner of Police Smartana Patil and Assistant Commissioner of Police Army Division Sanjay Surve overseeing the operation. The dedicated team of officers, including Senior Police Inspector Sandipan Pawar, Police Inspector (Crime) Shrikant Nimbalkar, Assistant Police Inspector Abhijit Jadhav, and Police Sub-Inspector Ravindra Gawade, along with Police Constables Dnyaneshwar Bade, Shivaji Sark, and Manoj Bhokare, played a crucial role in apprehending the culprits and recovering stolen property.
