Following their arrival, both Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi will rest on Monday: the former at Nivdunga Vitthal Mandir and the latter at Palkhi Vithoba Mandir in Pune.

These preparations include meticulously planned road closures and diversions along the routes from their starting points in Dehu and Alandi. The annual processions, carrying the revered Paduka (symbolic footwear) of Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj, culminate in Pandharpur on Ashadhi Ekadashi, celebrated this year on July 17.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi began its journey from Dehu on June 28, observing a traditional halt at Inamdar Wada in Dehu before proceeding to Akurdi in Pimpri-Chinchwad. The processions attract devotees from across Maharashtra, who follow in the footsteps of these revered saints.
In anticipation of large crowds and heightened spiritual fervor, the police have collaborated closely with local authorities, civic bodies, and community leaders to coordinate every aspect of the journey. This coordination includes crowd control measures, medical assistance points, and arrangements for essential services along the route.
The Palkhi processions are deeply rooted in Maharashtra’s cultural and religious heritage, symbolizing unity, faith, and reverence. Alternate route: Utilize Dhanori Road and internal routes.
Closed route: Mental Hospital Corner to Alandi Junction.
Alternate route: Proceed via Jail Road and Airport Road.
Closed route: Sadalbaba Chowk to Patil Estate.
Alternate route: Take Parnakuti Chowk to Garrison Engineer Square.
These traffic diversions will come into effect from 12 pm on Sunday to accommodate the joint passage of both Palkhis near Engineering College Chowk, ensuring smooth traffic flow and safety during this significant religious event.
Moreover, the following routes will be affected:
Closed route: Range Hill Chowk to Sancheti Chowk.
Alternate route: Khadki Underpass and Poultry Farm Chowk.
Closed route: Khandoji Baba to Veer Chaphekar Chowk.
Alternate route: Karve Road and Senapati Bapat Road.
Closed route: Gadgil Statue to SG Barve Chowk.
Alternate route: Kumbharves to RTO Chowk.
Closed route: Deccan Traffic Division to Thopte Path Chowk.
Alternate route: Ghole Road and Apte Road.
